House music continues to dominate DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list

Last year, we noted the rise of good house music DJs on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list. That trend continued in 2026, with the likes of Mau P, Chris Stassy and Michael Bibi rising sharply, and the likes of Joseph Capriati and Cloonee making it to the top 100 for the first time.

Top 10 remains bland and festival-oriented

Before this year’s results, there had been three DJs who had claimed the title of #1 DJ in the world five times: Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, and David Guetta. Now, David Guetta becomes the first DJ in history to claim that title for the sixth time (2011, 2020, 2021, 2023, 2025, 2026), with Martin Garrix remaining at the #2 spot. Anyma rises from #10 to #3, his highest placement to date. Charlotte de Witte remains the highest-ranked techno DJ, rising three places to #6. Besides that, little has changed in the top 10, with each name gaining or losing one or two places.

The rise of house music

When looking at the sharpest movers on the list, they are all at least somewhat related to house music. John Summit, Mau P and Chris Stassy each rise 22 places, to #24, #55 and #59 respectively, while The Martinez Brothers climb 15 places to #28 and GORDO is up 18 to #50.

The new entries are just as telling. Josh Baker debuts at #40 — an unusually high first showing. Joseph Capriati (#68), Wade (#72), Shimza (#75), Cloonee (#84), and Prospa (#94) have all made it to the top 100 for the first time. In his ninth consecutive year on the list, Bosnia’s own Solomun rises by 14 places and makes it to the upper half of the list for the first time, finishing at #41. He remains the only DJ from the Adria region to make it to the list.

Techno’s hard edge cools

Charlotte de Witte’s rise to #6 confirms techno’s place at the very top, but the harder, faster strain that surged in 2025 has run out of steam. Amelie Lens slides 9 places to #47, Sara Landry dips 2 to #64 and Nico Moreno loses 15 to #82. I Hate Models and Fantasm drop out of the top 100 altogether. Still, not all is lost, with Reinier Zonneveld gaining one place and finishing #21, and Lilly Palmer being up by 8 (#49).

The old guard loses ground

The clearest losers of 2026 are almost all veterans. Vini Vici is the biggest faller inside the top 100, down 39 places to #71, followed by Quintino (down 29 to #76), Above & Beyond (down 26 to #87) and Eric Prydz (down 25 to #62). Deborah De Luca, DJ Snake, The Chainsmokers and R3hab each slide by 17 to 21 places. The likes of Nervo, Mike Williams, Kaaze, Tujamo and Le Twins all dipped below top 100.

All in all, this year’s list looks like a generational change that was a long time coming. About time, if we might add.

50 DJs that did not make the cut this year

The poll runs to 150, and the names just outside the top 100 have stories of their own. Sammy Virji is the biggest climber among them, up 38 places to #101, with Kettama (up 37 to #110) and BLOND:ISH (up 32 to #114) also pushing hard.
