With many house artists rising and the likes of Michael Bibi, HUGEL, PAWSA and more entering the top 100, 2025 has truly been a comeback year for house music.
First of all, let’s agree to completely ignore the top 10. As always, it is filled with a bunch of mainstage DJs with minimum changes on top, and the houseist name in the top 10 this year remains FISHER (#7, up one position).
House music comeback
We want to focus on house music in particular, and we have a lot of things to celebrate. For starters, many house DJs that were already in the top 100 made big jumps in the rankings. Black Coffee is up 7 places and is now #17 in the world, Keinemusik is #20 (up 15 places), Dom Dolla rose to #41 (up 25), and John Summit is now #46 (up 24).
However, no other DJ on this year’s list has made as big of a jump as Bosnian-born, Hamburg-raised Solomun, who is now #55, up by incredible 33 places. This shouldn’t come as a shock, as he spent his year doing awesome b2b sets with the likes of Anyma, Steve Angello, and Michael Bibi.
Speaking of Michael Bibi, he’s the year’s highest new entry, debuting at #48, while his Solid Grooves compatriot PAWSA is a bit below at #69. In between them you’ll find Latin House superstar HUGEL debuting at #54.
House dominance doesn’t end there, with ARTBAT (#73), Miss Monique (#75), Chris Stassy (#81), and Chris Lake (#95) also making their top 100 debut.
The year of hard techno
The only other genre that saw a significant rise is harder-paced Techno, with Charlotte de Witte entering the top 10 for the very first time at #9 (up 7 places).
Some techno artists that improved their rankings include Reinier Zonneveld at #22 (up 4), Amelie Lens at #38 (up by 3) and Sara Landry at #62 (up by 13). We can also observe Lilly Palmer (#57), Nico Moreno (#67), I HATE MODELS (#79) and Fantasm (#93) all making their 100 debuts.
The biggest losers
Of course, not everyone can win, and some of the biggest losers include GORDO, who’s now at #68 (down 23), The Chainsmokers at #70 (down 28), KAAZE at #74 (down 26), Fedde Le Grand at #84 (down 44), and Mariana Bo at #91 (down 40).
As a consolation prize, at least they’re still in the top 100, which can’t be said for the likes of Kura (#56 in 2024), Tujamo (#59 in 2024), Dubdogz (#62 in 2024), Julian Jordan (#63 in 2024), Danny Avila (#72 in 2024) and ten more.
