Serato has launched the public beta for DJ Pro 4.0 and DJ Lite 4.0, introducing what the company calls “the most significant upgrade to library management in our history.”

The update, announced on August 5, 2025, has been years in the making and shaped by deep community feedback from Reddit threads, support tickets, and one-on-one conversations with DJs. Serato rebuilt the library system from the ground up to deliver “a smarter, faster, and more visual way to organize and navigate your music collection.”

Key new features include advanced crate searching and filtering tools, allowing DJs to quickly locate crates and instantly see which crates a track belongs to. Users can now color-code crates for visual organization and pin frequently used crates to the top of their library for quick access during performances.

The update introduces a Track Rating system that lets DJs rate songs directly in the library using customizable stars or emojis. Other improvements include automatic track analysis on import, the ability to analyze tracks while hardware remains connected, and the option to mix local files and streaming tracks in the same crate.

Right-click functionality has been added to crates, providing quick access to options and actions - a feature that had been notably absent from previous versions. Additional visual cues and customization tools are available throughout the interface to help DJs manage large libraries more efficiently.

The public beta is now open, with Serato inviting DJs to test the new version and provide feedback as they move toward a full release. Both Serato DJ Pro 4.0 and DJ Lite 4.0 are available for download, though the company warns this is beta software and advises caution for public performance use.
