Charli XCX’s latest album “BRAT” secured Best Dance/Electronic Album, prevailing in a heavyweight category that included Four Tet’s “Three”, Justice’s “Hyperdrama”, Kaytranada’s “TIMELESS”, and Zedd’s “Telos”. The win represents a significant milestone for Charli, who has previously received critical acclaim but no Grammy recognition throughout her decade-long career.
Adding to her triumph, Charli’s collaboration with TikTok star-turned-recording artist Addison Rae, “Von Dutch”, claimed Best Dance Pop Recording. The track outperformed a strong field including Madison Beer’s “Make You Mine”, Billie Eilish’s “L’Amour de Ma Vie (Over Now Extended Edit)”, Ariana Grande’s “Yes, And?”, and Troye Sivan’s “Got Me Started”.
French electronic duo Justice didn’t leave empty-handed, securing Best Dance/Electronic Recording for their collaboration with Tame Impala, “Neverender”. The track, which dominated streaming charts throughout 2024, emerged victorious against Disclosure’s “She’s Gone, Dance On”, Four Tet’s “Loved”, Baby Keem’s “leavemealone” ft. Fred Again.., and Kaytranada’s “Witchy” ft. Childish Gambino.
In the remix category, industry veteran Mark Ronson partnered with FnZ to claim Best Remixed Recording for their “Working Late Remix” of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso”. The winning remix topped an eclectic selection including Kaytranada’s “Alter Ego” remix for Doechii ft. JT, David Guetta’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” remix for Shaboozey, A.G. Cook’s “Von Dutch” remix for Charli XCX ft. Addison Rae, and Alex Antaeus, Footsteps & MeMyish’s Amapiano remix of Julian Marley’s “Jah Sees Them”.
The night’s results reflect the Recording Academy’s growing recognition of pop-dance crossover success, with Charli XCX’s double win particularly noteworthy given her previous Grammy shutouts.
